Mauritius Inflation Rate Picks Up to Over 1-Year High

The annual inflation rate in Mauritius climbed to 3.8% in April 2025, the steepest since March 2024, from 1.8% in the prior month.

Upward pressure stemmed primarily from prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages (7.6% vs 1.1% in March); insurance & financial services (10.2% vs 9.9%); restaurants & hotels (8% vs 8.3%); furnishings & household equipment (6.2% vs 6.3%) and health (5.8% vs 5.4%).

On the other hand, decreases were seen for transportation (-0.9% vs -1-1%) and housing & utilities (-0.5% vs -0.6%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.3% in April, slowing from a 1% increase in the previous month.
