Mauritius’s trade deficit narrowed slightly to MUR 14.1 billion in February 2025 from MUR 14.3 billion in the same month of the previous year.
Year-on-year, exports fell by 9.2% to MUR 7.9 billion, mainly due to lower shipments of Food and Live Animals (-23.34%), Miscellaneous Manufactured Articles (-21.15%), and Manufactured Goods Classified Chiefly by Material (-24.35%).
Meanwhile, imports declined by 4.4% to MUR 22 billion, driven by reduced purchases of Machinery and Transport Equipment (-19.9%), Food and Live Animals (-14.7%), and Manufactured Goods Classified Chiefly by Material (-17%).
