The economy of Cyprus expanded by 3.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2025, confirming flash estimates and slightly above the 3.1% growth recorded in the previous three-month period.
This marked the strongest economic expansion since the third quarter of 2024, mainly driven by positive contributions from wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles (6% vs 3.9% in Q1), information and communication (6.2% vs 5.3%), and professional, scientific and technical activities (3.1% vs 2.2%).
Meanwhile, net trade contributed negatively to the GDP, with imports (6.8%) rising more than exports (4.5%).
On a quarterly basis, GDP advanced by 0.5% in Q2, slowing from a 1.3% gain in the preceding period.
